Reimagining Resources. Creating New Value.
RE is a circular material project that transforms waste generated through Kutani ware production into new resources and materials.
For more than a century, Miyasou Seitosho has produced ceramic bodies for Kutani ware.
Alongside craftsmanship and knowledge, the manufacturing process also generates ceramic waste and unused materials.
Rather than viewing these materials as waste, we see them as resources with untapped potential.
RE was created to explore a more sustainable and creative future forcraftsmanship and manufacturing.

Rethinking Waste
Every manufacturing process produces byproducts.
But are they truly waste?
Ceramic fragments and unused materials generated through Kutani ware production contain the history of materials, craftsmanship, and local culture.
We believe these materials have not lost their value—they have only lost their purpose.
RE seeks to give them a new role.

From Ceramic Waste to Material
RE combines recycled ceramic powder derived from Kutani ware waste, known as RE BASE, with a natural oil-based binder called RE BINDER to create new surface finishes and material applications.
By preserving the unique texture and character of ceramics, RE offers material qualities that conventional paints cannot replicate.
This is not simply recycling.
It is an approach to upcycling that increases the value of materials through transformation and reuse.

Designing Circular Materials
RE is not only about reducing environmental impact.
It is about carrying stories, materials, and cultural heritage into the future.
The history of Kutani ware.
Local resources.
Generations of craftsmanship.
By reinterpreting these elements into new forms, RE creates value through circulation itself.
We see resource circulation as a creative process rather than merely an environmental solution.

Beyond Paint
Although RE began as a paint material, its purpose extends far beyond coatings.
Its core mission is to discover new possibilities for materials and create new purposes for existing resources.
Through collaborations in architecture, interior design, art, product design, and creative industries, RE continues to explore new applications for recycled ceramic materials.
RE is a platform for material innovation and future-oriented making.

Reimagining Value
What defines value?
If value exists only in finished products, discarded materials have no place.
We believe otherwise.
Materials themselves possess meaning, history, and potential.
RE returns materials to the cycle of creation, transforming them into new forms of value.
From waste to resource.
From resource to material.
From material to future.
RE proposes a new model of circular creativity inspired by Kutani ware.
